Firefighters from five agencies battled flames that ignited atop a 16-story silo at a Coors distribution plant in Colorado on Thursday.
Crews were called to the facility in Golden shortly after 11:15 a.m. after a fire broke out in an empty silo used to store equipment, The Denver Post reports. Around 60 firefighters responded to the scene, including personnel from the Fairmount Fire Protection District.
The incident concerned the wooden deck at the top, which caught fire. Coors and fire officials are unsure how the fire started, but it didn't affect the plant's main operations, and no one was injured.
“It’s a wood deck, there is nothing below it except an empty 16 stories,” Fairmount Fire Chief Alan Fletcher told the Post.
Using an exit on a neighboring building to reach the flames, firefighters had the blaze out shortly after 12:30 p.m. But they continued to monitor hot spots before leaving, the Post added.
